If you like walking, the coastal path and miles of beach are easily accessed from http://www. caravanclub. co. uk/caravanclubapps/applications/uk-caravan-sites-and-parks/SiteDetails. aspx?csid=21957&showreview=269828

Or "CL of the year", WoodyKiln, Herbrandston, just west of Milford Haven.

I've loads more but do you want to be inland or on the coast?

Edit - "half an hour from beaches", doh, read twice, post once - sorry.

Nice place if you get the weather! We had two weeks of non-stop rain when we stayed at 'Creampots' Broadway nr Haverfordwest. Last time we ever take our main holiday in the UK!

Cardiff has a camp site just a few minutes walk away from the city centre and if you like cricket, the cricket ground is next to the camp site, the Millennium Stadium is just a short walk away too!

Cardiff bay has its own beach, lots of restaurants, cinemas and theatres plus the Doctor Who exhibition and more shops than you can shake a stick at!

Or, about midway between Cardiff and Newport is Ty Coch

That's it from the bit from where I live.

Caravan Club site at Tredeager Park. At Talybont there's a nice little site with a couple of tasty pubs across the road and of coarse the canal. It's lovely there.

Earlier this year we stayed just outside the Brecon Beacons National Park.

Beautiful area. Pub and small shops/post office within easy walking distance.

Nice well run CL with some hard standings if requd. Immaculate toilet/shower and even a Jacuzzi if that's your thing.

Thoroughly recommended.

Midland CL at Letterston, near Fishguard, can thoroughly recommend it, despite a narrow approach road, a tranquil oasis, owned by caravanners for caravanners

it depends on how fit your Dad is. CC sites on the beach, sort of, are Freshwater East and St . Davids, there is also Pembrey and Gowerton. Private sites, too many to mention as of course S. Wales has a coastline. I use CC sites so I cannot help any further .

We visited Pembrokeshire and Tenby in 2011 and I wrote about it in my blog. If you are in the CC a Cl, Hillside at Kilgetty was the best I have ever stayed on.

Still open when I past there on Friday, at least the sign was still there

Stone Pitt Caravan Park at Kilgetty has got rave reviews on another forum, looks nice on their web site, quite central for Pembrokeshire

It's Hillcroft.

Also I can recommend Stone Pitt Caravan Park as Les mentions above.

We stayed there about 3-4 years ago and it was nice then, but they have since improved the facilities. It is also practically next door to Folly Farm, and at certain times you can hear the animals, well at least I think it was the animals. ;)

Stayed at Hillcroft in July and it was excellent. Its very quiet and suitable for an older person as the pitches are flat. Book early wherever you decide as the better C. Ls book quickly. Really enjoyed our Wales holiday, but we were lucky with the weather. We will be going back, its on the list.

  • 1 month later...

We've just booked 2 weeks at Freshwater East CC site for Aug 2017. Chose this as its a 3 min walk to the dog friendly beach.

In recent years we've done Norfolk, St Ives & New Forrest so fancied somewhere different for 2017.
