Family bereavement over the weekend means we have had to travel up from Sussex to be in the North West for the next couple of weeks. Family members flying in from all over the world and bedspace in the house in the next few days will be at a premium so we are going to utilise our caravan which is already in storage up here. Would really welcome any suggestions of good CLs in the Poynton/Wilmslow/Alderley Edge/Bramhall/High Lane/Disley sort of areas.

Have you checked out the CC book for CL's?

I have. One of the major drawbacks of the CL entries in the CC book is that there are no user reviews or photo galleries. ....which is why forums like this are so valuable. You can do the necessary 'due diligence' using Google Maps Streetview for general issues like location and ease of approach, but there is no substitute for helpful guidance from likeminded vanners who are able to recommend somewhere based on actual experience.

But if you look at CLs online you get reviews and a map with street views ;)

Not if nobody has left any. ...which is the case with the few CLs listed in the area I specified. We had to make a midnight dash up to Cheshire from Sussex at the weekend and, unsurprisingly, the CC book wasn't amongst the items we grabbed to go. With all of the other stuff we are having to deal with I just thought it might be possible to get a simple recommendation but evidently few forum members have visited sites in this locality.

Also, we all have differing opinions of sites. A nice quiet CL to a retired couple coukd be bliss.

To a young family with very active kids, that would be hell.

So I take reviews with a bit of salt.

One of the best online sites with reviews is not allowed to be mentioned on Caravan Talk. Not CT's choice but I will PM their name.

That wouldn't be a UK site would it ? Excellent for finding sites.

Very nice, spotless toilets with little shops etc to potter about in which may take your mind of things and some lovely walks too.

I know its now way too late for what you wanted the sites for, but try using the UK campsite website. I tried to use the link, but apparently this website doesn't allow it. [UKCS/] website in the future. It gives you loads of campsites plus reviews. I use this site lots and lots of times just for the reviews.
