derek pringle
hi, Having recently converted back to caravanning from motorhoming we are the proud owners of the above van [so far all is great] except one thing, the dining table. Have any Coachman owners noticed how heavy and cumbersome the table is to remove from its storage in the wardrobe area to erect in the sitting area? I am a big lad and no weakling but I know that my wife and many other people I would suggest would struggle alone. I wonder why the table is made so heavy. Anybody agree or is it just me? cheers derek

Glen and Les
We should really leave ours at home too, as we never use it. We do have the side dinette table, but find ourselves regularly just using the pull out table at the front. We carry an aluminium picnic table for outdoors eating. 2019 Ford Kuga 2. 0 (150 bhp) AWD Manual and 2022 Coachman Acadia GTS 565.

During winter I took out the front Table/drawer unit and got the original upholster company to make a matching cushion and backrest in the original cloth. They said it was a common request. Now when in bed we can sleep down the van length and not across so either can get to the loo or whatever. Not used it yet but will be next month. The bed will now be massive. derek pringle
hi all, Thanks for the replies. Replacing with a picnic table that can be used inside or outside seems a good way around the problem, I just wonder why Coachman don't realize that if the table HAS to be taken out and put away on a daily basis, it should be made of lightweight material. I have no quality complaints just the weight. cheers derek
flamez
We have the 460/2 VIP and never used the table, the pull out table under the centre cupboard is big enough for the two of us,
petejev
We take ours out and use it in the awning, they can be difficult to extract if they have not been put away carefully as it is very easy to bend the plastic channel when inserting the table. I also spray the channels with silicone and have rounded off the leading edge of the channels to assist with stowing the table. Pete 2019 Volvo XC60 D4 AWD Inscription. BOAC
I removed the table and I took off the legs and found a set of self levelling legs - the ones that extend to make the table level on uneven ground. I now keep it in the garage ready to be packed when we go on a trip. We use it only for an awning table and it lies flat in the back of the car boot for transportation. derek pringle
Hi all, Thanks for the responses. I think it is great that people are using their ingenuity to get around this problem, but I do not believe this should be the case. The table is there to be used as and when owners want, not kept in a garage or just to put in an awning. Obviously somebody at Coachman must realise [even if it is just the person who packs it ] that the weight of this table is ridiculous. To use the fact of overall weight reduction as a main selling plank for this van and add totally unnecessary extra weight beggars belief. With all the lightweight materials and means of construction about nowadays it also seems a very easily solved issue. I applaud all the different things members have don to ease the issue and no doubt will have to try something myself. good luck to all derek
rovinmad
I do appreciate that the table supplied as original equipment is very heavy but have you ever tried a light aluminium collapsible one as a substitute? We did and soon went back. The slightest knock and everything is off the table! A light touch and the tea is spilt. I think the tables are heavy for a very good reason so we will just put up with it. I do admit to being rather clumsy.
