We went on a rally once the people were really nice and friendly and we tried to join in,but it was not for us I know this is very petty but walking across the field with with every one else with my coffee mug to the community centre for a meeting just finshed it off for us.

You did not have to go for coffee, there are no rules regarding socialising.

Drove to Loves Lane CL or was it a CS ?? Cambridge in two stages. First Stop being York. Looking forward to a peaceful country 5 van CL adjacent to the farm with the added comfort of one shower and toilet and hook up. To my horror on arrival there was a Rally in the next field. Marquee in the middle of the field surrounded by about 60 or more vans. . Flags and wind socks galore. Kids, grannies and dugs galore. .. Was lucky enough to get the pitch right next to the mini toilet block or personal en-suite. Said to Mrs Nosferatu bet that rowdy lot will be jumping the fence and using the toilet and shower at all oors of the day. Mentioned my concerns to the Farmer /Warden who informed the facilities were out of bounds to the Rally. Well ! I had to eat me words ! Not a soul used the facilities the weekend they were there. No noise after 2200hrs all in pleasant neighbours. .. Went into London on the Monday and when we returned that night the Rally field was desolate and spotless.

Never made one attempt in making friends one of the reasons I am a member of 4 Forums don't need pals have plenty of cyber buddies and I don't have to buy them a pint ;) . ..

GAS . ...

As I have already stated the keys were in the fruit bowl at about 21. 00 so by 2200hrs everybody was done lol

The trouble with keys in the fruitbowl is you might pick out a 'real old banger' and I am afraid I like nearly new cars with all the electric gismos and things.

I prefer the old ones, well worn in and comfy to ride.

One of the best ways for Miserable Gits to meet other Miserable Gits is to stay at a CCC club site - where being a Miserable Git is virtually an employment requirement for the site managers. ...

With luck they'll be surly, unhelpful, authoritarian, officious, and utterly intoxicated with power - causing even the most miserable Miserable Git to feel themselves completely out-gitted by these true masters of the craft  Thus, the visiting Miserable Gits who can't quite match the site managers for sheer truculent crabbiness will start to feel even more miserable and anti-social, ensuring that a really satisfying stay is had by all.

There must be another CCC club not what I've experienced in over three years.

I'm sure that things are wonderful in the Christian Caravan Club, the Canadian Caravan Club, and the Congolese Caravan Club - however, I'm talking about the Camping & Caravanning Club Ltd (also known as 'The Friendly Club' - which at least proves that someone at their HQ has a wickedly ironic sense of humour)

I'll speak as I find and not my experience from being a member of the C & CC for over 25 years.

No problem - and bless you, too.

With so many clubs confusion is bound to arise - there is also the Criminal Caravan Club, of course, but that's a trade-only body with a membershp mostly comprised of Dealers. ..

I think it a shame that so many hard working small business people are thought of as criminals, as in the post above. Would not be so bad if there was any proof at all, which there seldom is apart from the fact they have to charge for things so that they can pay overheads.

Well, it's getting towards the end of January - so in a few weeks we can confidently expect the usual posts made by people who have recently visted these hardworking small business people, parted with large sums of money, and towed away caravans that are riddled with damp.

Sorry, but my own opinion is that second-hand caravan retailing is a fundamentally dishonest world - and I've seen enough of them operating to know.

You don't think people may be expecting brand new vans for second hand money.

I'm a miserable git as well. Perhaps all us MG's should get together and have a rally. We could sit in isolation and ignore each other. Sounds like a good weekend to me.

I'd be up for this too!

John. :)

Never ask a man if he comes from Yorkshire. If he does, he'll tell you. If he doesn't, why humiliate him?
