2015 Clubman - Radio Interference

Has anyone with a new Clubman found any interference on the radio reception?

Only occurs when one of the LED strip lights that can be dimmed through the dimmer button on the panel above the door is switched on (ie over front and rear lockers under front pelmets and under fixed bed, and the perimeter led's around the skyview roof light).

Would appear therefore to be caused by the dimmer.

I have a lunar lexon 540 similar shape, I have problems with radio interference if I have anything plugged into 12v cigarette sockets .

Are we talking FM or AM here. If the latter then it may well be associated with extra current draw making the switched mode power supply radiated even more interference than they usually do. Also if, like my Bailey, the radio is fed off the TV aerial then it effectively has no AM aerial and it is working on random pickup.

If FM is the problem then it would suggest a poor connection to the screened cable feeding the signal to the radio. If the source is a Status 5xx series directional remember that radio may not be coming from the same transmitter site as the TV signal so your signal will not be optimum.

One thing is certain - it will not be getting up the power cables as they are very well filtered inside the radio - unless of course the radio has a poor earth connection. Try removing the aerial and see if the radio still switches on.

Thanks to a very helpful chappie at Sergants in their technical team, problem now seems to be solved.

There are facilities available within the overdoor panel that the handbooks do not mention, and one of those allowed adjustment to the frequency of the dimmer. Reducing it from normal to low seems to have removed the interference.

Many thanks to Sergants.
