Doosan
Hi Ron, I owned the Leda Grampian and I think I had a plate with the chassis number fitted to the A frame. Does your van have any etched numbers on the windows ? If so these will be the CRiS registration number, the bottom set should be your chassis number. to the Forum. Jaydug
Is there a serial number plate fitted over the inside of the door? Citroen C5-X7 Tourer+Avondale Rialto 480/2 https://jondogoescaravanning.com
CommanderDave
CRiS only came in 1992 so you will need to use the chassis number usually on a plate on the A frame. Dave While I agree with your comment Dave, one of the previous owners could have registered the caravan with CRiS them selves. This is why I asked if the windows were etched. Dave. Guest
. ..the camping club require a chassis number to insure but I don't know where to start looking any help grateful. There should be an identification plate fitted above the entrance door inside the caravan with a number that looks something like 91AV123456. The first two digits confirm the model year of manufacture, the "AV" indicates it was built by Avondale, and the last six digits are unique to your caravan and can be used for insurance purposes. Aditionally, if you look under the caravan, there should be an oval metal plate riveted to the axle cross member, and again the number prefixed by "LE" is unique to your chassis, so may be used for insurance purposes. Finally, as has been suggested, although the CRiS registration didn't start until 1992 a previous owner may have optionally registered your 1991 caravan, and if so there will be a 17 digit code etched into the windows that the insurance companies will accept, and this will be of the form SGAS000AVM0001234 if it is to refer to a 1991 caravan.
