Towcar summary

What's good?

Engine pulls very well at any speed, Interior nice, comes with all the toys inc Sat Nav, BT, Heated leather seats, blind spot monitoring, lane assist, city stop assist, dual zone climate control etc...

What's bad?

MPG tumbles if you use a bit more throttle. No electric tailgate option

Would you recommend it?

Yes

Towing performance *****

How well does it tow?

Very steady tow, pulls my 1000kg caravan with ease, cruise control makes towing very easy

Solo performance *****

What's it like without the caravan?

Very little roll compared to most SUV's. More like driving a normal hatchback but higher up driving position so best of both worlds. Auto box one of the best i have ever driven

Reliability ****

Anything to look out for?

Earlier models suffered with a camshaft issue which had potential to ruin engine. Mine needs a software update to rectify excessive DPF regenerations

Practicality *****

Is it easy to live with?

Easy to get in and out of, very large usable boot, rear seats fold flat with a pull of a lever. A few more cubby holes or storage spaces in the front like a coin tray would be beneficial

Buying experience ***

Did you buy it new or used?

Used

Where did you buy it?

Independent showroom

What was the seller like?

Bought from CarShop Northampton. Very poor service, car was flithy when we arrived. So little fuel it went into restricted performance mode. No Nav card with the car. Had to return the car (4 hour round trip) because when they replaced the tyres before purchase they didnt balance the wheels properly, brakes squealled badly and oil leak from rear diff. They did however refund me 210 for fuel costs and compensation though

Spare wheel supplied?

They come with repair kit as standard.

I bought the optional full size emergency spare that come with jack, wheelbrace and revised boot trim moulding.

Never had to use it so far. (Touch wood!)

Latest model ( mid 2017) has electric tailgate on this spec, getting a bit pricey now, the new metallic red is now £800 extra + a price increase on basic price of last model. Can now get an auto box on this spec with 2 wheel drive but this has the 150 engine not 175

I made sure our Kuga came with a proper spare wheel rather than the repair kit.
Would have to agree. We have the manual version which is fantastic I cannot recommend it enough. Towing mpg marginally better than the posted auto but not enough to make it a consideration. Best car I have ever had, and I have had loads.
