Audi A4 Avant 2008 review
Can't fault it's stunning good looks or performance from the 3.0 TDI engine. Pretty good mpg when not towing and phenomenal Quattro traction.
Power tailgate sometimes has a mind of its own and struggles to shut in high winds. No cruise control specified by original owner.
Would you recommend it?
How well does it tow?
I forget the 'van is on the back sometimes effortlessly pulling strong all the way up to 80 *ahem* I mean 60...
"Hill hold assist" makes pulling away even uphill a breeze.
What's it like without the caravan?
A joy. Can't fault the ride quality. So comfortable even in the sports seats on long journeys. The engine revs freely and never seems to struggle. Blasts along the open road without so much as a complaint.
Anything to look out for?
We bought ours with 196k on it. Very high some might say, but a 1 owner car and complete with full (mostly dealer) service history and receipts for everything that'd been done to the car and we were off for a test drive. After 10 minutes of driving what felt like a brand new car we were ready to make a deal.
A common problem is the Bang and Olufson amplifier getting water dripped onto it. Apparently more of a problem in the A5, but ours had gone. Stereo all worked fine, but no sound. £250 later to get it repaired.
Is it easy to live with?
Easy to park with Audi's all round parking sensors.
Powered tailgate means loading in armfuls of shopping bags is easily done.
Quality stereo for those solo power ballads while stuck on the M25.
Boot is large with easily dropped rear seats for extra room
Did you buy it new or used?
