Caravan summary

What's good?

Legendary build quality. Fairly bomb proof, love the versatility of the bed make up. Can make a massive 6 ft 6 double or 2 6 ft 6 long singles which can be made as wide as 3 feet with a bit of packing at the side.

What's bad?

Inboard water tank which we do not use.Would prefer one that slides in so could be left at home and use the space for other things.

Would you recommend it?

Style & comfort *****

Do you like the way it looks?

Because the shape hasn't changed since we bought new in 2006 it really doesn't matter.
Wouldn't mind a shorter drawbar but it is supposed to help stability so no real gripes there.

Is it comfortable?

We found the original foam and fabric not to our liking so decided to go for thicker more comfortable cushions, this made a vast improvement.

Ease of towing *****

Is it easy to tow?

Providing that you keep the nose weight as high as possible there is not a problem. Never had a bad snake ever.

Reliability & water ingress *****

Anything to look out for?

Only ever had the usual bits of things not related to Hymer but more to do with suppliers of fridge, fire etc.

Practicality *****

Does it meet your holiday needs?

We have had this van for 10 years in Feb 2016.
We cannot find another van that would better what we have for the size.

Any modifications?

Put a couple of extra electrical points in.
One socket on cabinet side of toilet so we can put the microwave in the toilet compartment. ( It really is the only space we can put one).
Also turned the bathroom door around so that it opens inwards instead of opening over the oven (not a good idea to have the door open when cooking so it was a no brainer.
Fitted a BBQ outlet on near side.

Buying experience *****

Did you buy it new or used?

Where did you buy it?

Franchised dealer

What was the seller like?

Bought from Lowdhams of Huddersfield, handover was comprehensive and useful.
After sales and servicing very good.
